Alas del Tigre is a pilot transformative 12-month Youth Development and Leadership Program that aims to empower and develop a diverse group of youth participants in Santiago, Dominican Republic. The program focuses on providing comprehensive leadership training, skill-building workshops, mentoring opportunities, and community engagement activities to create a network of empowered youth leaders who will serve as positive change agents in their communities and beyond.
The project includes four key components:
a) Leadership Training: Engaging workshops and seminars to develop essential leadership skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making.
b) Skill-Building Workshops: Specialized workshops to enhance personal and professional skills, such as public speaking, project management, critical thinking, and cultural competency.
c) Mentoring and Support: Pairing participants with experienced mentors who will provide guidance and personalized coaching throughout the program.
d) Community Engagement: Encouraging participants to actively engage in community service initiatives, promoting social responsibility and civic duty among the youth.
The project will implement a robust monitoring and evaluation plan to assess success and measure impact. Participants' leadership skills, personal growth, community engagement, and cross-cultural understanding will be evaluated through pre- and post-program assessments, feedback surveys, and progress checkpoints. The data collected will be used to continuously improve the program's design and delivery.
The project will span 12 months, starting with a program launch and orientation in Month 1. It will include two face-to-face convenings, each consisting of a two-day training workshop. Virtual convenings will serve as checkpoints with guest speakers providing personal and professional development. Stipends will be distributed to youth participants in Months 4 and 8.
How will the project be sustainable beyond the grant period?
To ensure sustainability, the project manager will seek partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and educational institutions. These collaborations will provide ongoing support, resources, and opportunities for youth participants beyond the program duration. Efforts will be made to secure future funding and expand the program's reach to a wider audience.
